General Policy
What we will do
dSpot provides a free wireless hotspot service that derives
revenue from advertisers.
dSpot will collect a wide range of information from your
computer during
the software installation process and subsequently from your usage of the
service.
Information obtained will be used to determine the most
profitable advertisements to display on your
computer whilst you are connected to the service.
dSpot uses analysis software to track all Internet traffic and to
identify keywords and phrases that help us to determine suitable
advertisements. We collect some or all of the following data for
this purpose
- Demographic data supplied during software
installation
- Domain names and IP addresses accessed through a web browser
- Keywords utilized during web searches
- Dates, times, durations and locations that your
computer accessed our
Wireless Hotspots
dSpot uses information for the following general purposes: to
customize the advertising and content displayed
on your computer, fulfill your requests for products and
services, improve our services,
conduct research, and provide anonymous reporting for internal and
external clients.
You can remove our Toolbar at any time using
the Add/Remove Programs icon in the Control Panel.
You do not need to run the Toolbar when you
are not connected to our Wireless Hotspot.
What we will not do
WE WILL NOT CAPTURE OR HOLD
ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION ABOUT YOU NOR WILL ANY INFORMATION HELD BY
US BE IDENTIFIABLE TO YOU. YOU REMAIN ANONYMOUS TO US AT ALL TIMES.
dSpot will not rent, sell, or share any usage
data obtained with other people or nonaffiliated companies except under the following circumstances:
- We provide the information to trusted partners who work on
behalf of or with dSpot under confidentiality agreements.
- We respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to
establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal
claims;
- We believe it is necessary to share information in order to
investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities,
suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the
physical safety of any person, violations of dSpots terms of use,
or as otherwise required by law.
- We transfer information about you if dSpot is acquired by or
merged with another company.
dSpot displays targeted advertisements based on
data obtained from the way that your computer
uses the dSpot service. It CANNOT be used to personally
identify you IN ANY WAY. Advertisers (including ad serving companies) may assume
that people who interact with, view, or click on targeted ads meet
the targeting criteria - for example, women ages 18-24 from a
particular geographic area.
- dSpot does not provide any personal information to the
advertiser when you interact with or view a targeted ad. However,
by interacting with or viewing an ad you are consenting to the
possibility that the advertiser will make the assumption that you
meet the targeting criteria used to display the ad.
- dSpot advertisers include financial service providers (such as
banks, insurance agents, stock brokers and mortgage lenders) and
non-financial companies (such as stores, airlines, and software
companies).
dSpot works with vendors, partners, advertisers, and other
service providers in different countries, industries and categories
of business.
